Failure is learning

So, I wanted to make a nebula galaxy outer space type art thing… I hate what I made!

At this moment, it isn’t even dry but I will hold my hope gor it to turn out till the very end.

This was my process…

First I spray painted an old frame (glass and all) with matte black spray paint.

Then, using a toothbrush and some white paint, I splattered the fuck out of the black… these are the stars… I wanted to add some other colors but I am LAZY!

Step C, I poured on some really runny white paint. (1 part acrylic, 1 part pva, 1 part water) and then, using a straw, I blew it all over the fucking place… if you follow me on Instagram then you will know that I had a poll on there discussing the jizziness of this… it legit looked like someone had just sneaked up and shot their load all over my fucking space…

Number 4, I created a steaming pile of nuclear waste… by pouring other colours on top of the white. Using the same ratios and same method.

Finally, I painted another canvas with the left over paint, cause I am cheap and throw nothing away.

The finished products, I hear you begging me not to show you… Well, too bad!

I will probably be painting over these… lol but that is okay. Not everything you create has to be great. I’m not about to throw in my paint brushes because of these two failures. I have learned that sometimes you have something in mind… you may plan the steps you will take to get there and even when you finish, it doesn’t meet the expectations you had in your head…

Love you all,

Amberley “Lemons” Griffin.

PS if you are wondering what the actual I am doing, I am using prompts as a kind of therapy to help me recover from the lemons life has given me. I would fucking love it if you joined in! To have a look at this week’s prompt, just look at the latest post in the “prompts project” category or hang out for next Friday when I will give a new prompt.

You don’t have to make painty art. You can do anything… like anything… seriously.

      1. Maybe you could coat the mirror with something stickyless… and then later, after you spray paint all over it, you could just peel the whole creation off the mirror and keep it forever?

      2. You could use something nonpermanent, and then take a picture of it. Then swirl it around, spin it, put it in the microwave, put it in the freezer and then let it thaw, each time taking a picture of it. Then use the prints in an art gallery in a series entitles “Life Devastates Art”.

Side note: I think you should start another blog written under the pen name “Richard Tentacles” … Dick for short.

      3. Dick Tentacles is a very close friend of mine… he is actually a male prostitute. He is a lovely sweet man… maybe I will convince him to start his own blog.

I love this idea… I need to art today anyway so I will make room in my freezer and clean out the microwave

      1. HA! 😀

Paint It Black – Rolling Stones (you’re probably too young!) 😉

I actually meant reverse order AFTER you’d got the black base. – End with the stars not begin with them??
